Formal coursework will be provided in didactic format, incorporating online instruction with required on-campus sessions offered in extended weekend schedules each semester during the first and second year of the program.  Each DHA Program will provide students with a schedule of didactic courses and required on-campus sessions at the time of enrollment.

Comprehensive Examination
A comprehensive examination will be taken immediately following completion of all course work. The written examination will require the examinee to demonstrate an application and integration of his/her knowledge to specific health care issues. Examinations will be evaluated as Pass / No Pass.

Doctoral Project Proposal
The doctoral project proposal should be developed over the second and into the third year of the program. After successful completion of the Comprehensive Examination, the proposal must be formally presented to the doctoral candidate’s project committee for approval. Only after formal approval can actual research efforts proceed with the project.

Doctoral Project
All DHA students are required to complete a major study analyzing a management or policy issue in the health care field.  The Doctoral Project can be an applied healthcare study in an actual organization or subject area as contrasted with a theoretical research project required in most PhD programs. A minimum of 18 credit hours in the Doctoral Project Course, DHA 990, are required for graduation.
