College of Graduate Studies | Other Courses Approved for Graduate Credit
Any courses approved for graduate credit by their respective Colleges may be taken for credit by students in the College of Graduate Studies with written permission of their Program Coordinator. It is the responsibility of the Program Coordinator to assure suitability of course content.
SPTOP-736. Laboratory Animal Science. The course is designed to meet both the requirements of the Animal Welfare Act and to provide the background information needed to successfully complete the certification tests offered by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS). The target audience is all personnel who work with laboratory animal species in a biomedical research setting, including technicians, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and investigators. The course is designed to provide an overview of topics relevant to the humane use of animals in biomedical research and reflects current national and institutional regulations and guidelines which are subject to frequent change. Attendees may elect to formally enroll in the course or attend only specific lectures for continuing education. At the end of the course certification of attendance will be provided for lectures attended.
