CAPS provides help to students whose concerns range from normal social or developmental issues to serious psychological problems.

If you have been seen before at CAPS, you can check your appointment date and time, schedule a follow-up appointment with your current provider, or cancel an appointment on-line at https://lifenet.musc.edu
CAPS is open from 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday through Friday by appointment. Although appointments are preferred, a CAPS staff member is on call during office hours for emergencies.
In case of an emergency on weekdays before 8:00am or after 5:00pm or on all weekends and holidays, call the MUSC operator at 843-792-2123 and ask him/her to contact the Senior Psychiatry Resident on call.
In addition to following the regulations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the CAPS staff carefully adheres to the ethical standards of the American Psycological Association and the International Association of Counseling Services. Information regarding a student will not be released to persons outside of CAPS without the student's written consent, unless legally mandated (e.g., a court order) or there is a clear indication of imminent physical danger to self or others.
CAPS is available to all full or part-time MUSC students who have paid their student activities fees. A student's spouse or significant other will be seen with the student for couples counseling when a relationship problem is the focus of treatment. There is no charge for the services provided by CAPS.
