Steps to Apply 2013-2014
Step 1: Complete a 2013 - 2014 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- The FAFSA can be completed here: www.fafsa.ed.gov
- MUSC's school code is 003438
- You will need your 2012 federal tax information to answer some of the questions on this application. If you have not filed, you may estimate and make the necessary corrections once your taxes are completed
- If you have filed your 2012 federal tax return, use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) when completing your FAFSA application.
Step 2: Complete an MUSC Loan Request
- The loan requests can be completed here: http://academicdepartments.musc.edu/esl/em/fin_aid/forms/formtypes1314.html
- If you have not received your MUSC login information yet you must complete the fillable version

Step 3: Complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN)
- The Master Promissory Note can be completed here: studentloans.gov
- The MPN is an agreement between you and the US Department of Education that you will repay your loans upon the agreed terms
- You will need to complete an MPN for each loan type for which you are applying
Step 4: Complete the Entrance Counseling Session
- The Entrance Counseling session can be completed here: studentloans.gov
- All new students must complete the entrance counseling session
Health and Human Services Loans
- The Department of Health and Human Services offers loans to students enrolled in Dental Medicine, Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy
- The application can be completed on the financial aid forms page: http://academicdepartments.musc.edu/esl/em/fin_aid/forms/formtypes1314.html
- To be eligible you need to provide your parents' tax information using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) on your FAFSA.
Please Note: Financial aid materials may be e-mailed to applicants prior to acceptance into MUSC. Receipt of financial aid information from the Office of Financial Aid Services should in no way be interpreted as an admissions offer into one of the six Colleges of the University.
