Constitutional Amendment

SGA Academic VP 2006-2007

1.  Purpose: Amend the MUSC-SGA constitution to define the amount of time executive officers are to serve on MUSC-SGA.

2.  Be it Enacted by the Medical University of South Carolina Student Government Association assembled in regular session the following:

3.  That the Medical University of South Carolina Student Government Association Constitution be altered to read as follows.  Previously there was no statement as to the duration of executive term.  In order to clarify the commitment required for such a position this clause will be added. 

4.  Article III, Section 3, Sub-section (b) reads:
Elections shall be held in March, and the newly elected officers are strongly encouraged to attend all executive and general SGA meeting on or after April 1.  Upon May 1, the newly elected officers will assume active duties and powers. 

Let the section be amended to read:
Elections shall be held in March, and the newly elected officers are strongly encouraged to attend all executive and general SGA meetings on or after April 1.  Upon May 1, the newly elected officers will assume active duties and powers.  Executive officers shall serve for one complete academic year.  Special considerations for a shortened term may be reviewed and considered by the Executive Committee and Student Programs.
