|Bill No. 06-09|
2006/2007 MUSC SGA
Committee: Academic Affairs
Date Submitted: 11/15/2006
SGA Academic VP 2006-2007
1. Purpose: Amend the MUSC-SGA constitution to further cement and outline the duties and responsibilities of the Academic Vice President.
2. Be it Enacted by the Medical University of South Carolina Student Government Association assembled in regular session the following:
3. That the Medical University of South Carolina Student Government Association Constitution be altered to read as follows. Based on the current 2/3 members calculation three of the eight organizations represented on MUSC-SGA can vote on and pass legislation without the majority of the colleges and organizations present. Under the new calculation 2/3 of the organizations represented on MUSC-SGA as well as 2/3 of the general body will need to be present for a quorum to be met. Example if there are 8 colleges and organizations represented at least 5 of those will have to be present. This will assure a better representation from a greater number of colleges and organizations on every piece of legislation.
4. Article IV, Section 3 reads:
Decisions before the SGA can be made by a majority vote of the eligible members, provided that a quorum of at least 2/3 of the members is present.
Let the section be amended to read:
Decisions before the SGA can be made by a majority vote of the eligible members provided that a quorum of at least 2/3 of the members AND 2/3 of the representing colleges and organizations is present.
Student Government President
