Meeting Minutes – October 10, 2012
PRESIDENT: Brandon Hagan
Reading of the September 26th minutes: Approved
Student Liaison Needed – Creating a Blueprint to Prepare for a Climate Change: A student liaison is needed to work with Second Nature in a leadership role for changing society/climate. There is a commitment of 2-5 hrs in the months of October and November. Let Brandon know by end of meeting if you would like to participate. Please send this information out to your classmates to see if someone would like to be involved. Brandon can send out an email with some more information.
Dinner at the Greenberg’s: This is a mandatory event! The Greenberg’s have invited SGA out to their home for dinner on Wednesday, November 7th at 6:30pm. Please wear business/professional attire. There will be two SGA meetings back to back (the next meeting is before Thanksgiving). Nadia is passing around a sign-up sheet. The main meal is a fish dish. If you don’t like fish, mark the vegetarian option. The deans from each college will be there. We try to have everyone from that college sit with their respective Dean if space permits.
Comment from Dr Burnham: If you RSVP, then make every effort to come. If you can’t make it then let Nadia know ASAP so that your name/badge isn’t on a table at an empty seat. Unless you are on rotation or some unexpected tragedy occurs, you are expected to attend. You cannot send someone in your place. This dinner is for official SGA reps from the college only. No guests/spouses are allowed.
Comment from Brandon: Please be on your best behavior. Dr. Greenberg opens up all areas of his house for us to explore/spread out in.
Commencement speaker suggestions: A sheet is being passed around for suggestions. Dr. Darlene Shaw is pushing for the commencement speaker to be a woman or minority.
Comment from Dr Burnham: The last 4 speakers have come from the SGA suggestion list. The committee takes this list seriously.
Reps (2) to clean up after meeting: Joey Powell and Igor Alvarez
PROGRAMS VICE PRESIDENT: Danny Vo
MUSC SGA Winetasting at the SC Aquarium: The Winetasting will be on November 2nd at the SC Aquarium from 7-10pm. Worker sign-ups will be sent out as we approach the date. This is an elegant, classy event. Students dress up in cocktail attire. The tickets are $25 (2 tickets per ID) and they will be on sale Monday, October 15, 2012 at noon in the Student Programs Office. Please start hyping this event up to your classmates. The tickets sell out pretty quickly so please let your colleges know.
Comment from Dr Burnham: Please send out a thank you to your classmates about the record breaking attendance for the Art Walk and their exemplary behavior. Because of this attendance, a lot more art galleries want to participate and we will also have to cap the number for next year.

Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for non-students (2 per MUSC ID). There will be a FREE private MUSC Reception during intermission! There are currently only 20 tickets left!
