MUSC Wellness Works
The academic success category is focused on the engagement in those activities that foster intellectual stimulation and growth outside of the normal academic curriculum. The opportunities below are those that different MUSC departments offer that can be enriching for your academic success.
Center for Academic Success (CAE)
The Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) and the Writing Center are central to MUSC’s goal of ensuring that all students communicate clearly, learn efficiently and creatively, and benefit from master teachers. Health care providers must learn and re-learn in order to adapt their practices to the latest advances in biomedical science. They also must collaborate with colleagues across professions to provide quality care and conduct groundbreaking research. From a review of literature on the latest standards of care or a cover letter for that first job to a dissertation or grant proposal, these experts in scientific and professional writing teach the skills necessary for career success.
Apple Tree Society
The Apple Tree Society seeks to foster dialogue and activity related to the scholarship of health professions teaching through campus and national partnerships. Their goals include: expanding the faculty development opportunities related to teaching and learning on campus and beyond, initiating programs that recognize and enhance the value of the scholarship of teaching and learning, exploring and supporting innovative methods and technologies for teaching and learning, promoting professional development of current and future educators across all colleges, and fostering networking opportunities and conversations about teaching, learning, and educational technology. Their brown bag series features various learning sessions about the uses of technology in health care education.
