Education

The AP presents approximately 50 lectures a year to several thousand people statewide. About 60% of the lectures are to agricultural and related industrial audiences and to civic organizations. The remaining lectures are delivered to medical professionals at hospital and societal meetings, to medical and other health career students at the Medical University of South Carolina and the University of South Carolina, and to the residents at the seven teaching sites of the South Carolina Statewide Family Practice Residency Program. At the Medical University of South Carolina, senior medical students may take a one month elective with the AP and family medicine residents receive training in agricultural medicine as part of a required rotation provided by the Occupational and Environmental Medicine Program.

In addition to lectures, AP faculty and staff have developed a wide range of educational materials over the years including, books,  brochures, videotapes, self-study monographs for physicians, and computer-assisted instructional modules.
