The "Pink" Student Calendar

  • At the beginning of each rotation, students receive in their orientation packets a 6-week calendar printed on 8.5 x 11" pink paper .  The calendar originated from student suggestions to have one "quick reference" document that included all requirements and deadlines.
  • Students have responsibilities and activities with both rural preceptors in the clinical setting and with MUSC Family Medicine faculty members in didactic activities at MUSC.
  • It is the student's responsibility to give his/her rural preceptor a copy of the pink calendar so that the preceptor is aware of the student's schedule.

The rotation begins in Charleston . . .

  • Afternoon: Non-"local" students are expected to arrive at your practices by 11:00am unless otherwise advised by the practice or your AHEC coordinator.

DAY 4

"How will I know where I'm supposed to go when I leave Charleston, what do I need to bring?"  One to two weeks prior to the beginning of the rotation, students should be contacted by the
AHEC Community Site Coordinators who will provide students with detailed information (mailed to student's home address or e-mailed to student's MUSC e-mail address).  Students are encouraged to communicate with site coordinators or clerkship student coordinators to address questions and/or concerns prior to the rotation.
