Rick Schnellmann, Ph.D.
Dr. Schnellmann has been a member of the MUSC faculty since 2001 and currently is a Distinguished University Professor and Eminent Scholar. He maintains a successful research operation involving both basic and translational research in renal injury, renal repair and regeneration, diabetic nephropathy, renal aging and nephrotoxicity. In addition, he has research projects that focus on mitochondrial biogenesis, homeostasis and injury. Dr. Schnellmann has published 170 manuscripts in peer reviewed journals as well as 19 book chapters.
Dr. Schnellman earned a B.S. in Pharmacy from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy, and a Ph.D from the University of Arizona in the field of pharmacology and toxicology. He completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Duke Univ Medical Center and prior to MUSC, Dr. Schnellmann held faculty positions at the University of Georgia and University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
