MUSC Foundation for Research Development (FRD) is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit technology transfer office that acts as the point of contact for industry and entrepreneurs wishing to commercialize intellectual property from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). The FRD provides many services to MUSC, including the following:
- Evaluation of technologies disclosed by MUSC researchers
- Management of the patent and copyright portfolios
- Marketing of technologies to commercial partners
- Negotiation, execution, and maintenance of license agreements for the intellectual property rights to MUSC technologies
FRD has technologies in its portfolio that can improve patient care in a multitude of disease states and wellness. Click here to search featured technologies available for licensing. The listings presented on the webpage cover technologies currently protected via patenting (both pending patent applications and issued patents) or copyright. Additional technologies may be available for licensing, but are not listed in the technology database while the patent applications are in preparation or additional data is being generated. The MUSC Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship provides commercialization resources and expertise to MUSC researchers interested in starting a company.
