Gazes Cardiac Research Institute | faculty | Michael Zile, M.D.

Michael Zile, M.D.

Research Interests include:

1) Identifying the basic myocardial, cellular, extracellular, and molecular mechanisms causing diastolic heart failure, 2) developing new treatment strategies to treat diastolic heart failure, 3) defining the transsarcolemmal and intracellular signal transduction mechanisms which modulate myocardial, extracellular matrix and cardiomyocyte growth. His laboratory is supported by grants from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, the American Heart Association, the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Medical University of South Carolina.
