The Medical University of South Carolina College of Medicine is committed to the promotion of cultural understanding and cultural competency. Towards that end, an effort has been made to provide some tools to enhance skills among those who practice medicine and serve their communities. Providing culturally competent care implies having the capacity to function effectively within the context of cultural beliefs, behaviors, and needs presented by our consumers and their communities.
