MCBP Graduate Student News

This has been another exceptional year for the students in the MCBP Program.  This year, our students published 44 manuscripts, many in high impact journals, including publications in Nature, Nature Genetics, Genes and Development, Circulation: Heart Failure and Development.  In addition to the manuscripts, our studnets presented 26 abstracts/presentations at local, national and international meetings.  Our students' work has been honored with an impressive number of highly competitive local, national and international awards and fellowships.

  • Dorea Pleasant - received a UNCG/Merck Graduate Dissertation Fellowship
  • Emilie Rosset - received a AADR Student Research Fellowship
  • Jessica McCoy - awarded a Slocum Lunz Foundation Award
  • Abby Emily Durham - awarded 2nd place in the MUSC College of Dental Medicine Scholars Day and was invited to give a oral presentation at the Hinman Student Research Symposium
  • Mohammed Dany - best poster at the Association of American Physicians/ASCI and a Young Investigator award from the Society of Hematology Oncology
  • Jason Wheeler - 2nd place at the MUSC Surgical Research Recognition
  • Kimberly Sauls - selected to participate as a part of the ASBMB to meet Lawmakers on Capital Hill Day in Washington, DC.  Invited speaker at Winthrop University and at MUSC for the Horace G. Smithy Lectureship
  • Abby Wenzel - Invited speaker at the Gordon Research Seminar on Environemtnal Endocrine Disruption
  • Theresa Cantu - Awarded 2st place Poster award at eh Gordon Conference and two additional 1st place awards at the Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry meeting, and Crocodile Specialist Group meeting, Skukuza, Kruger National Park, South Aftica meetings
  • Dan Herr - Invited speaker at the Commonwealth Medical College/University of Scranton Medical Alumni Council Symposium
  • Mohammed Dany - Awarded travel award to National meetings
  • Jenny Kemper - Awarded travel award to National meetings
