First Year Curriculum Students
CGS 701 Foundations of Biomedical Sciences, the initial element of the 2013 First Year Curriculum will begin at 9:00 am, Tuesday, August 20th in Room 435 of the Basic Science Building. A computer, preferably a laptop, is required for First Year Curriculum course work. Though the library has computers suitable for most course assignments, having your own computer would be optimal. Any relatively late-model computer/software you used for undergraduate course work is likely to be suitable for the First Year Curriculum. Before purchasing a computer or software, please inquire first to avoid unnecessary purchases (Dr. Adam Smolka at firstname.lastname@example.org).
For information on computers and software please visit the Information Services website at: www.musc.edu/infoservices. There is a variety of software available for free to the MUSC community that can be found here: http://www.musc.edu/infoservices/software. Please review all computer use policies and other information on the page: http://www.musc.edu/infoservices/policies.html.
A draft of the First Year Curriculum calendar is posted here. If you would like to review material for the core course, please visit the Guide to the First Year Curriculum below. Upon reviewing the syllabi you may want to consider purchasing one or more of the recommended texts for independent study over the summer. A more detailed syllabus and the curriculum guide will be provided at matriculation. Call or email the course director if you need guidance: email@example.com.
