Mission The Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) is an organization of students of all orientations and identities at MUSC designed to provide a sense of community, support, and advocacy for anyone whose real or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity, or alliance may put them in an at risk minority group. The GSA works to organize and assist all students in improving their professional education at MUSC regarding lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, asexual and intersex issues (LGBTQQAI). We also strive to educate policymakers about the medical, social, and personal importance of LGBTQQAI issues. The GSA participates in events that offer its members community service experience in ways that directly benefit LGBTQQAI people and their families. We provide a connection to the national network of LGBTQQAI health professionals who are committed to improving working relations, care quality, healthy care policy, and community service. The GSA at MUSC facilitates the exchange of information between other chapters in the southeast. We meet monthly and sponsor events periodically through the academic year.
