Healthcare Reform Law Changes

Changes mandated by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, as amended by the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010, will become effective on January 1, 2011, for health insurance plans offered through the Employee Insurance Program.

The State Health Plan and HMOs offered through EIP operate on a calendar-year basis.  For that reason, no provisions of the federal healthcare law will affect the plans during 2010.

EIP will use this time to ensure compliance with the new legislation and program its system to allow data entry of any coverage changes.  Complete enrollment information will be available in September 2010.
