State Specifications:
General Nature of Work:
Manages records and information management programs for a large state agency; supervises records analyst teams and microfilming activities; provides technical advice and training to state agencies and local governments in the area of automated records.

Monitors records production and growth to ensure sufficient storage capabilities.
Supervises subordinate records analysts or teams of analysts.
Reviews and develops retention and disposition schedules for approval by the South Carolina Department of Archives and History.
Meets with users regarding records automation needs to determine hardward specifications and related application features.
Advises and trains state and local government officals on proper records storage conditions and equipment.
Audits internal information management systems.
Supervises records reproduction and transfer for quality assurance.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of the South Carolina Public Records Act.
Knowledge of automated records and information storage and retrieval systems.
Knowledge of and ability to apply records and information management principles and techniques.
Knowledge of archival principles and holdings.
Ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of others.
Knowledge of microfilm technology.
State Minimum Training and Experience
State Necessary Special Requirements:
Positions working directly with medical or vital records may require certification from an accredited school of medical records administration.
Minimum Requirements:
(Note: Additional requirements may be applicable for individual positions in the employing agency.)
A high school diploma and experience in records management, information systems, or office administration.

MUSC Physical Requirements:
(Note: The following descriptions are applicable to this section: Continuous – 6-8 hours per shift; Frequent – 2-6 hours per shift; Infrequent – 0-2 hours per shift) Ability to perform job functions in an upright position. (Frequent) Additional New Requirements: *Note: Records Analysts in University Records must possess the ability to perform the above physical requirements with 50 lbs.
