State Specifications:
General Nature of Work:
Performs a variety of responsible and difficult drafting and architectural tasks that require judgment in the application of procedures used in building design and construction.

Drafts building designs; prepares working drawings for the construction or alteration of new or existing structures.
Represents the department in determining design, layout and other aspects of building construction.
Monitors design compliance at construction sites.
Drafts initial plans for final reproduction by architects.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Skill in the use of drafting instruments and materials.
Knowledge of drafting principles, techniques and practices.
Knowledge of algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
Knowledge of building codes and other relevant laws.
Knowledge of practices, procedures and principles of construction.
Ability to prepare, review and revise design plans and specifications.
Ability to read and interpret plans, blueprints, maps and survey notes.
