Minimum Training and Experience Requirements

AA20Clerical Specialist
There are no minimum training or experience requirements for this class.
AA25Administrative Specialist I 
There are no minimum training or experience requirements for this class. Some positions require a commercial driver's license. Some positions require a minimum typing score of 35 corrected words per minute and typing test on file unless otherwise stated.
AA50Administrative Specialist II  
A high school diploma. Related clerical experience may be substituted for a high school diploma. Some positions assigned to this class require: a valid commercial driver's license; or correctable vision of 20/40 in both eyes, with or without conventional lenses and physical qualifications in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, Section 391.41. Some positions require a minimum typing score of 35 corrected words per minute and typing test on file unless otherwise stated.
AA75

Administrative Assistant
A high school diploma and two years work experience that is directly related to the area of employment. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the related work experience. Some positions require a valid driver's license and good driving record; or correctable vision of 20/40 in both eyes, with or without conventional lenses, and physical qualifications in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, Section 391.41; or AAVMA certification. Some positions require eligibility for bonding.

AB10Postal Specialist 
A high school diploma. Related work experience may be substituted for a high school diploma. Some positions require a valid driver's license and eligibility for bonding.
AB20Postal Center Director I
A high school diploma and three years work experience in postal, courier or delivery operations. Some positions require a valid driver's license and eligibility for bonding.
AB30Postal Center Director II
A high school diploma and three years work experience in postal, courier or delivery operations. Some positions require a valid driver's license and eligibility for bonding.

A bachelor's dregree and one year work experience as a supervisor in a large supply services or property control operation.

A high school diploma and two years related financial experience. A bachelor's degree with multiple accounting courses may be substituted for the required work experience.

A bachelor's degree in computer science or management information systems may be substituted for the required work experience.
AJ25Systems Programmer II
An associate's degree and three years experience in the modification and maintenance of system programs, the design and development of system software, the testing and debugging of system software or the support of mainframe data base management systems. A bachelor's degree in computer science or management information systems may be substituted for two years of the required work experience.
AJ28Data Entry and Control Clerk I

CG45Broadcast/Engineering Maintenance Technician III
A high school diploma and three years of work experience in the repair and maintenance of electronic equipment used in the area of radio/television production, routing, distribution, and broadcasting. Some positions within this class require the possession of a commerical radio telephone operator's license.
EA10Licensed Practical Nurse
Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing and one year of experience as an LPN. Positions in this classificaiton require licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing. Requires certification in Basic Life Support prior to the completion of general orientation.
EA15Licensed Practical Nurse II
Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing and two years of related experience as an LPN. Positions in this classificaiton require licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing. Requires certification in Basic Life Support prior to the completion of general orientation.
EA20Registered Nurse I
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing. Some positions require a valid driver's license. Requires certification in Basic Life Support prior to the completion of general orientation.
EA30Registered Nurse II
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and one year related nursing experience. Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing. Some positions require a valid driver's license. Requires certification in Basic Life Support prior to the completion of general orientation. Some positions require certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
EA40Nurse Practitioner I
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and six months experience as a registered nurse.
EA50Nurse Practitioner II
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and one year experience as a registered nurse.
EA60Nurse Practitioner III
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with two years clinical experience, one of which must have been in a specialty area of care. Positions in this classification require licensure as a Registered Nurse and certification as a Nurse Practioner by the South Carolina Board of Nursing. Requires certification in Basic Life Support.
EA65Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, master's degree in nursing, with 2-3 years of clinical experience. Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse and hold official recognition as a Nurse Practioner by the South Carolina Board of Nursing.
EA70Nurse Administrator/Manager I
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and four years related nursing experience. A bachelor's degree in nursing may be substituted for two years of the required work experience. Licensure as a Registered Nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing. Some positions require certification as a generalist in a related specialty area by the American Nurses Association (ANA).
EA80Nurse Administrator/Manager II
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and five years related nursing experience. A bachelor's degree in nursing may be substituted for two years of the required work experience. EB08Occupational Therapy Assistant
A bachelor's degree in occupational therapy. Licensed as an Occupational Therapist Assistant by the South Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy.

A bachelor's degree in physical education, occupational therapy or a related field and work experience in occupational therapy. Some positions require licensure as an Occupational Therapist Assistant by the South Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy.

EB20Physical Therapy Chief
A bachelor’s degree, licensure as a physical therapist and experience as a physical therapist.
EB25Pharmacist
A bachelor's degree in pharmacy or pharmacology. Licensed as a registered pharmacist by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy.
EB30Clinical Pharmacist
A bachelor's degree in pharmacy or pharmacology and experience as a registered pharmacist. A doctoral degree in pharmacy or pharmacology may be substituted for the required work experience. Licensed as a registered pharmacist by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy.
EB35Physician's Assistant
A high school diploma and two years responsible and progressive health care experience and completion of a recognized physician's assistant's program. A bachelor's degree in a health care occupation may be substituted for two years of the required health care experience. Certification by the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners.
EB70Respiratory Therapist I
Graduation from an American Medical Association-approved program for respiratory therapists. Certification as a Respiratory Therapy Technician with experience in respiratory therapy may be substituted for the required training.
EB75Respiratory Therapist II
Certification as a Respiratory Therapy Technician with experience in respiratory therapy; or graduation from an American Medical Association-approved program for respiratory therapists with experience in respiratory therapy; or designation as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with the National Board for Respiratory Therapy.
EB85Radiation Therapy Technologist I
Graduation from an American Medical Association-approved program for radiation therapy technology; or graduation from an approved two-year course in radiology technology and experience in radiation therapy.
EB90Radiation Therapy Technologist II
Registry eligible with the ARRT and graduation from an American Medical Association-approved program for radiation therapy technology and experience in radiation therapy; or graduation from an approved nursing program and experience in radiation therapy.
EC05Medical Assistant
There are no minimum training or experience requirements for this class..
EC10Medical Assistant Technician I
A high school diploma and six months experience or training within the specific work area. Some positions require certification as a dental assistant by the Dental Assisting National Board, Inc. Some positions require annual CPR certification.

4450 Dental Assistant I
A high school diploma and six months of dental assisting experience. Certification in Radiation Safety required for positions responsible for dental x-rays.

EC15Medical Assistant Technician II
A high school diploma and one year experience or training within the specific work area. Some positions require licensure by the South Carolina Board of Dentistry. Some positions require certification as a dental assistant by the Dental Assisting National Board, Inc.
4451 Dental Assistant II
