This military style physical training class focuses on overall fitness training as well as running. During fall and spring semesters MUSC Boot Camp is a 12 week program. Summer Boot Camps are either four or six weeks in length. All Boot Camps are led by active duty US Marines and are considered intermediate to advanced level. The morning Boot Camp meets at the MUSC Wellness Center Gym three days a week on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 6:00 am to 7:00 am. Evening Boot Camp meets Monday and Wednesday evening 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm in the back half of the gym. Evening Boot Camps are not always available during the summer months. Summer Boot Camps may only be offered two days per week. Please check the dates and times each session is offered.
Participants of the Boot Camp need to be free of any health problems or musculoskeletal limitations. Modifications of the class content are the responsibility of the participant. Participants must stay well hydrated.
First time Boot Campers are kept together in one section of the gym for the first weeks of the program. The Marines will supervise the beginners and offer modifications if needed. It is the responsibility of the participant to communicate when an exercise modification is desired. Each participant must exercise to their own ability and fitness level.
The US Marine Boot Camp Instructors are not exercise specialists, but do have the necessary training to lead military personnel in physical fitness readiness training.
