FELLOWSHIP IN CLINICAL RESEARCH ETHICS CERTIFICATE PROGRAM The Fellowship in Clinical Research Ethics program was created as part of the Clinical Research Ethics Core of the South Carolina Clinical and Translational Research Institute. The program is designed to provide health professionals who are interested in clinical research ethics with sufficient background in that discipline to warrant special recognition in the form of a Certificate in Clinical Research Ethics. It comprises several components: a one semester, one-credit course in research ethics, MCR 750, Ethical Issues in Clinical Research (also see course schedule) and a sister course, MCR 789, Advanced Ethical Issues in Clinical Research (also see course schedule); a two semester two-credit semester interprofessional course, IP 738, Clinical Research Ethics Seminar Series (also see course schedule); and several selectives, of which one must be chosen. (All courses are available online; IP 738 Seminar Series is limited to 10 Fellows in physical attendance, the remaining Fellows will take the course online.) Using a variety of instructional methods, these courses will give the fellow a broad and deep background in research ethics, sufficient to earn special recognition in the form of a Certificate. Members of the MUSC family who complete the Fellowship program are offered membership in the MUSC Institute of Human Values in Health Care, the MUH Clinical Research Ethics Consultation Service (a service of the MUH Ethics Committee), and the Clinical Research Ethics Society. The Faculty of the Fellowship in Clinical Research Ethics Certificate Program comprises a wide variety of health care professionals at MUSC who are dedicated to providing the best possible program. With their expertise, the program boasts a broad spectrum of specialties for the fellows to learn from. Health professionals who are interested in enrolling in the Fellowship Program must submit an Application to the Fellowship office. Those wishing to obtain academic credit for the courses that comprise the Fellowship must register for them through the MUSC Registrar’s Office. |
