Krieg et al. Published a Predictive Biomarker for Immunotherapy of Melanoma
Dr. Carsten Krieg’s article titled, “High-dimensional single-cell analysis predicts response to anti-PD-1 immunotherapy,” was published in Nature Medicine (online January 8, 2018). Dr. Krieg, with researchers from the University of Zurich in Switzerland, identified biomarkers in the blood that can predict whether cancer patients will respond positively to immunotherapy. A blood test for these biomarkers could significantly increase the share of patients who benefit from immunotherapy. Likewise, patients unlikely to respond positively to immunotherapy can begin other treatments without lost time. This work was also highlighted on “Behind the Paper” in Nature Biomedical Engineering.
