Internal Audit
Confidential Hotline
How to Report Concerns
Concerns about issues related to legal, regulatory, or policy compliance, or to fraud, waste, or abuse may be reported verbally or in writing. Employees, students, patients, and visitors are encouraged to report concerns to Internal Audit, a Compliance or Privacy Officer, appropriate General Counsel, Deans, Department Chairs, or normal reporting channel. As an alternative, a CONFIDENTIAL, 7-day a week, 24-hour, third-party hotline also provides an avenue for employees or others to report serious concerns or violations. Skilled risk specialists staff the Confidential Hotline. Calls made to the Confidential Hotline are forwarded to the appropriate (MUSC, Hospital Authority (MUHA), or UMA) Compliance Officer for review, determination of further action, and follow-up.
Employees who report actual or perceived issues of legal, regulatory, or policy compliance, or of fraud, waste, or abuse in good faith should not be subjected to retaliation or harassment as a result of reporting. Concerns about possible retaliation should be reported to MUSC, MUHA, or UMA General Counsel.
