Ms. Sharon Bowers: MUSC’s resident ESL teacher

Sharon J Bowers is our principal instructor, with years of experience teaching English to adults. She holds an undergraduate BA from Smith College in English and Economics, an MBA from Yale University, and a SC Adult Education Certificate in ESL. With great technical precision she leads each class with compassion, humor, and clarity. When not at MUSC, she teaches at the English Language Institute - part of College of Charleston - and at St Matthew’s Adult ESL Outreach Program, as well as tutoring many private students. She has taught and tutored TOEFL and MLE preparation to students from more than 40 countries from basic beginner through high advanced levels. In addition, she offers small private and group lessons.

Classes can be tailored to specific needs - listening, speaking, reading and/or writing - in small groups or for individuals.
