Tonya Jones Clark began the EJKF in 2012 following the death of her mother, Eva Jones. Co-founders MaryAnn Majcher and Kara Hinde joined Tonya in her efforts to raise kidney disease awareness and promote MUSC's Division of Nephrology research.
“The Kidney Foundation is important to me for a number of reasons. My mother was a kidney patient for over 12 years. She was so dear to my heart. The Department of Nephrology at MUSC gave my mother outstanding care. The Purpose of the Kidney Foundation is to promote awareness and to provide resources to families and patients with kidney disease and/or those at risk and in need of prevention. There are millions of Americans impacted by this disease and some may not even know it. I would like to educate more Americans about the disease and the best way to make this happen is to promote the foundation to friends, family, work colleagues, etc."
