Application Process

For Fall admission to the Medical University of South Carolina, please get your application submitted as early as possible.  The target application deadline is 15 January, however applications submitted after this deadline will be reviewed.  Application fees are waived if you are applying to the doctoral program on-line.

Applications are reviewed in the order that they are received, so acceptances are made on a first-come, first-serve basis.  For admission, GRE scores are required.  No GRE subject (e.g. Biology) test is required.  Research experience is highly valued and can compensate for lower GRE and GPA scores.  (Admission Requirements and Guidelines).

MUSC offers University stipends ($23,000/year for 12 months) to all accepted doctoral students.  When you submit your application, you will automatically be considered for a University stipend - there are no additional forms to fill out.

To obtain general information on applying to our doctoral program at the
Medical University of South Carolina, following Admissions links in the MUSC webpage to the Office of Enrollment Services.   Online application is available at no charge.

Applicants for the MBES program are encouraged to contact  our representative on the admission committee, Dr. Michael Janech prior to submission of their application..Your application will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee, and qualified applicants will be invited for an on-site interview in the winter/spring prior to a formal acceptance into the doctoral program.
