Microbiology Interest Group

MUSC Microbiology Interest Group

The Microbiology Interest Group was formed in August 2011 to bring together faculty members at MUSC who share common interests in microbiology and infectious diseases. Currently the MIG has 20 faculty members, whose diverse interests encompass basic science, clinical research, epidemiology, and drug discovery. Group members are drawn from across campus and beyond: current members are affiliated with the Colleges of Medicine, Dental Medicine and Pharmacy, one is a clinician at the VA, and another is a microbiologist at The Citadel. Academic ranks range from Assistant to Full Professor. We hold monthly meetings to discuss current topics in microbiology/infectious diseases, report on national or international meetings attended by a member, present research progress, and seek feedback on grant applications. Please contact Yong-Mei Zhang (zhangym@musc.edu) if you are interested in joining the group.  2013 Symposium
