A Hospital Filled with Angels
Thirteen years ago, the Hipp family certainly wasn’t prepared for the words of the pediatric cardiology team: “Your baby has a heart defect and needs immediate surgery.” In this moving interview, Laura Wickman Hipp describes the remarkable experience of bringing her baby for three successive operations: “It was as if MUSC was filled with angels.”
Daughter Delia is now a thriving, beautiful teenager, but this year the Hipp family received another jolt: a serious cancer diagnosis in the family. Laura describes the exceptional care her family has received, and comments that competence, kindness and attention comes not only from the doctors and nurses but from the receptionists and parking lot attendants as well. The “MUSC family” includes each and everyone who works here – with the patient and family at the center.
