Director, Office of Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action

It is the mission of the Office of Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action to ensure that MUSC is in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to non-discrimination, equal employment opportunity and affirmative action. The EEO/Affirmative Action Office creates and monitors the MUSC Affirmative Action Plan and implements innovative programs to increase MUSC's awareness of and commitment to diversity, equity and affirmative action in the workplace. The Office is dedicated to preventing illegal discrimination and illegal harassment. Through educational programs, investigations and resolution of complaints, and oversight activities, the Office fosters an environment and culture that supports all members of the community.

I was born in Charleston, SC to John and Anna Bonaparte. I graduated from Burke High School in Charleston, and Hampton Institute, (now Hampton University) in Virginia, with a B.A. Degree.  After spending four years in the Army, including service in Vietnam, I was discharged as a Captain.  Following my military service, I worked for two years for the City of New York, and then moved to Detroit, Michigan.  I worked in Detroit as a Human Resources Manager/Director in several different organizations until I returned to Charleston to work at MUSC in my current position in September 2001.
