Dr. Christian Streck Provides Minimally Invasive Surgery to Infants and Children
MUSC is a leading center for minimally invasive surgery. In the last year, Dr. Chris Streck has joined our faculty in the Department of Pediatric Surgery where he is a central part of the surgical team using minimally invasive techniques for our youngest patients. In this series of podcasts, he explains that these procedures allow magnification of tiny structures to guide surgery; result in minimal pain and recovery time for patients; and result in cosmetically superior results compared to open procedures. He describes two of the most common operations performed for children with these procedures – appendectomy and resection of pyloric stenosis.
Dr. Chris Streck received his MD from Wake Forest University in 1999 and completed his surgery residency at the University of Tennessee Memphis. He received research fellowship training at St. Jude Children’s Hospital and clinical fellowship training at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital University of Tennessee in Pediatric Surgery. We welcome Dr. Streck and his wife, allergist Dr. Maria Streck, to our faculty.
