The Tenth Annual
Ernest E. Just Symposium
The Tenth Annual Ernest E. Just Symposium will be held on Friday, February 26, 2010. The symposium celebrates the life and scientific achievements of Dr. Ernest E. Just, a prominent African American marine biologist and Charleston, S.C. native.
Undergraduate students and their advisors from throughout the state and region are sponsored to come to MUSC to participate in the symposium. The format includes a morning session with invited speakers who introduce the life of Dr. Just and discuss career development. For the third year, a student in the College of Graduate Studies will also give a keynote talk describing their research project. This year the student speaker is Armina Wiggins, a M.D./Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Neurosciences.
In the afternoon, the visiting undergraduate students are accompanied on a campus tour and meet for a breakout session with representatives of their College of interest. Concurrently, internationally known invited speakers will give research talks in the area of cell biology and regenerative medicine. The full program for this year’s symposium can be found at the website: www.musc.edu/grad/just/index.html.
