The year 2013 was officially designated as the International Year of Statistics and is being celebrated globally with support from over 2000 organizations. Because biostatistics plays a crucial role in medical research, MUSC’s Department of Public Health Sciences is sponsoring a one day symposium on Sept 20th, 2013 to increase public awareness of the power and growing impact of statistics on the wellbeing of our society. The day’s events include talks on functional causal mediation analysis with an application to brain connectivity, key study design features (e.g., power, sample size, outcomes), effective collaborative research, and statistical resources on campus.
Keynote speakers include Etta Pisano, M.D., Dean of the MUSC College of Medicine, and Dr. Martin Lindquist, Associate Professor, Department of Biostatistics, Bloomberg School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University.
There is also going to be a poster session where graduate students from the MUSC Department of Public Health Sciences will present their research and collaborations in several biomedical areas.
When: September 20, 2013 from 9a.m. to 4p.m.
Where: MUSC Bioengineering Building Auditorium
