The Master in Health Administration (MHA) Program within the Department of Healthcare Leadership and Management strives to improve the management of the healthcare delivery system by educating current and future health care leaders in an interprofessional environment, engaging in excellence in scholarly activities, and providing service to the university, the region, and the professional community.

The Master of Science in Health Informatics (MSHI) program at the Medical University of South Carolina is designed to ensure graduates are prepared to select, implement, use, and evaluate health care information systems such as electronic health records (EHRs), data management, and analytic systems.

As a graduate of MUSC’s CVP program, you’ll become a highly-trained member of an open heart surgery team. Extensive knowledge of anatomy, pharmacology, pathology and surgical techniques are keys to success.

Graduates of the DNAP program are prepared to create and lead new models of care delivery for communities locally, across the nation, and around the world. The DNAP program offers a diverse selection of course work from managing information systems to crisis simulation in anesthesia.

The fully online, 12-month, accelerated RN-BSN program is designed for the adult learner to provide both didactic and practice experiences deemed essential for professional practice. The curriculum is designed to build on previous knowledge and to expand the scope of practice through individualized learning experiences guided by the learner's professional goals, with emphasis on leadership and communication skills, teamwork and collaboration, population health, and evidence-based practice.

The accelerated DNP program is a practice-focused doctoral program in nursing that awards both the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree and the terminal professional degree of Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) upon graduation. Graduates will be employed in primary care settings, hospitals, public health agencies, and schools of nursing. The purpose of the program is to prepare graduates who will practice nursing at the highest clinical level. Graduates may elect to focus in advanced practice nursing or nursing leadership and are mentored by faculty with active practice in those areas.

The accelerated PhD in Nursing Science program prepares graduates to pursue a career of externally funded research, scholarly publication, and professional leadership. The curriculum supports development of essential competencies required of a novice researcher and provides the opportunity to engage in collaborative learning with our faculty, who lead research on a variety of health issues and with diverse patient populations and communities.

Being an online student is beneficial to me because it gives me the freedom to focus on my courses at a time that is convenient for me. As a working professional and mother, having a busy life is an understatement. What I really like about being an online student is the ability to learn from my colleagues who are a wealth of knowledge and expertise. They are a combination of healthcare professionals, with different backgrounds and are located all over the United States.

Doctor of Nursing Practice

My previous degrees were in a traditional setting so when I first considered online education for my doctoral degree, I wanted to ensure that the quality of the program met those same standards. I have found that the curriculum at MUSC not only meets those standards but exceeds them and does so with excellence. I enjoy being challenged in the online format and truly believe this platform has pushed me to be a better student.

Trevor Faith
Master of Science in Health Informatics

I started volunteering at MUSC during my senior year of undergrad at the College of Charleston and moved into a full-time research assistant and study coordinator position now split between the Department of Public Health Sciences and the Division of Rheumatology and Immunology prior to starting my program. Furthering my education at MUSC has always been a goal for me and the flexibility of an online program has allowed me to balance full-time work and school simultaneously. Health Informatics is a cutting-edge area of health care and pursing it has, and will hopefully continue to, open doors for me within the campus research community and beyond.
