Wuwei (Wayne) Feng Laboratory
Wuwei (Wayne) Feng M.D., MS
I am the PI for the lab, trained in Biostatistics (University of Alabama at Birmingham), Neurology (Medical University of South Carolina) and Vascular Neurology (Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School). My primary appointment is with Department of Neuroscience (College of Medicine) and co-appointment is with Department of Health Science & Research (College of Health Professions). I am a member of MUSC Stroke Center as well as The Center of Rehabilitational Science in Neurological Conditions. The major research interest of my lab is centered on stroke recovery and rehabilitation, including 1) Prediction of post-stroke motor recovery with multi-measures - including genetics and neuroimaging and behavioral measures; 2) non-invasive brain stimulation (Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation) or other novel techniques to promote post-stroke motor recovery.
Jessica Peterson, CCRC:
I am a Research Specialist II with the MUSC Stroke Center. My background includes RN with 12 years of pediatric hematology/oncology experience as Certified Pediatric Oncology Nurse, as well as 12 years of clinical trial coordination. Because of my work on multiple NIH Funded Sickle Cell Studies, I was recruited by the MUSC Stroke Center in 2009 to work on project management of an NIH funded multi-center study. Since then I have assisted multiple PI’s within the Stroke Center with regulatory support. My background includes ability to manage all aspects of clinical trials from grant writing, feasibility, recruitment, data management, and auditing. I provide regulatory support for Dr. Feng.
I am a medical student currently training in the Doctor of Medicine program here at the Medical University, having earned a Baccalaureate from the College of Charleston in Biology and Informatics. I am a co-investigator in the lab, working primarily with data capture and analysis. Additionally, I have a seat on the Board of The Cares Clinic and serve as their Research Coordinator.
