Brain Tumor Action Month (BTAM) 2012

Who Should Attend:  Open to All!

About: The primary goal of Brain Tumor Action Month is to raise awareness and convince others to join in the fight for an increase in funding for brain tumor research and the development of and access to better treatments.

Also, check out Mac'n at the 'Drome: A Concert Film Experience, Sunday April 29th.  This documentary viewing premiere is based on the benefit concert held for Charleston based singer, songwriter, bandleader Mac Leaphart. All of the proceeds from DVD sales will benefit MUSC Brain Tumor Research.

Place: Hollings Cancer Center, 1st floor lobby (86 Jonathan Lucas Street, Charleston, SC)

Details:  Free, Open to All and No Registration Required

Additional Information: A display table with free educational information and a chance to enter drawings for prizes. Also, pick up FREE brain tumor awareness bracelets and ribbons and make a donation to brain tumor research.  You can also help support research by purchasing one of our unique T-shirts.

Brain Tumor Action Fair

Additional Information: This fair, which will have food vendors and the band The 3 Dudes, provides information on support services, and fundraising opportunities for Brain Tumor Research. You can also help support research by purchasing one of our unique T-shirts at this event.

Additional Information: Nicholas G. Avgeropoulos, M.D. will be present his lecture "Current Trends in the Management of Glioblastoma Multiforme". Dr. Avgeropoulos serves as co-director of the Neuro-Oncology Department at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Orlando, Florida.  This lecture is geared towards health care providers including doctors, nurses and healthcare administrators.  It is not a CME credited event.

Additional Information: Spend an evening learning about support services for brain tumor patients and their families through this series of short lectures from the experts on these services, including everything from financial support to massage and physical therapy. Drinks and appetizers will be served.
In addition:
There will be two separate tables set up in the room.  The Vocational Rehabilitation Center for the State with have some resources for individuals interested in Vocational rehab and The HELP line table (Personal Emergency Response System) will have resources and information regarding this service.
