Dr. Das’s laboratory projects primarily focus on the development of novel therapy strategies for the treatment of malignant brain tumors. Preclinical treatment models will be developed in order to conduct a phase I clinical trial with malignant brain tumors including adult glioblastomas, adult meningiomas, and pediatric medulloblastomas. The focus of Dr. Das’s laboratory over the next three years will be on improving the anticancer effects of new pipeline drugs, identifying the mechanism of brain tumor-associated seizures, utilizing a monoclonal antibody to stimulate immune cells, and translating those pre-clinical findings to the clinical setting.
Dr. Das’s collaborators include basic scientists, physician-scientists, and neurosurgeons across the Medical University of South Carolina, Stanford University School of Medicine, Northwestern Brain Tumor Institute (Chicago), Washington University School of Medicine (St. Louis), and the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James).
