A Message from the MSN Program Director

The Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) is an advanced practice degree for registered nurses designed to prepare them as advanced practice nurses in a population focus. The MSN is currently required for entry-level practice in the nurse practitioner role. The degree at MUSC focuses on Adult, Family and Pediatric primary care nurse practitioner roles. This degree provides you with the background; skills and advanced training you will need in a specialized area to work as an advanced practice nurse. This degree focuses on clinical practice and is a very strong career choice within nursing. It also provides students with a framework for process improvement that will allow them improve the quality, safety and cost of care in any health care setting. In an error of health care reform and ongoing change, the MSN graduate will be prepared to navigate a new health care system with the expertise to impact care at an individual, population and global level. The College of nursing has been preparing expert professionals for over 125 years with a tradition of nursing excellence. We are dedicated to preparing leaders who will shape the health care of tomorrow.
