Teresa W. Atz is an Assistant Professor for the College of Nursing and a Ph.D. candidate in Nursing at MUSC. She received a bachelor’s degree in Nursing at Salem State College, MA and a Masters in Nursing with a specialty in Nursing Education from MUSC. Her nursing career began in 1987 in Boston Children’s Hospital with a specialty in pediatric cardiology.
Mrs. Atz began her career at MUSC as a research nurse for pediatric cardiology at MUSC Children’s Hospital working with the NIH/NHLBI’s Pediatric Heart Network. She was a unit educator for the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care unit, Cardiac Step Down unit and Same Day Observation unit and has held many adjunct positions in the undergraduate program at MUSC.
Mrs. Atz’s area of research interest focuses on parents of pediatric research participants, specifically their transition experiences after the conclusion of their child’s clinical trial. She has also developed medical-surgical and pediatric simulations along with Dr. Nancy Duffy for the Healthcare Simulation South Carolina.
