Dr. Brian T. Conner is an Assistant Professor for the College of Nursing and a faculty member within the VA Nursing Academy. He received a Ph.D. in Nursing from MUSC in May, 2011. Dr. Conner received his Masters in Nursing with a specialty in Health Care Education and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Phoenix. His nursing career began in 1983 after receiving an Associate Degree in Nursing from Broward Community College in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Prior to joining MUSC Dr. Conner taught Nursing Leadership and Management and Critical Care Nursing in an undergraduate degree program for Lander University. Over the span of his nursing career, Dr. Conner has had the good fortune to serve in a number of different leadership and management positions including Director of Critical Care, Nursing Supervisor, Administrator of a multi-physician pediatric practice, Director of Quality Improvement and Community Outreach, and Nursing Consultant.

Dr. Conner’s area of research interest focuses on patient safety and clinical quality improvement in the acute care setting. Specifically, Dr. Conner is most interested in translating evidence into clinical practice. He is currently studying the effectiveness of interventions to reduce or prevent hospital-acquired, catheter-associated urinary tract infections.
