Tamera L. Pearson, PhD, APRN, ACNP, FNP, (Tami) is an Associate Professor in the College of Nursing. She earned a BSN Degree from Southern College in Collegedale, TN; a MSN from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN; a Post-Master’s Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate from USC- Columbia; a Post-Mater’s Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate from Tennessee State University, Nashville, TN; and a PhD from the University of South Carolina- Columbia, SC. Dr. Pearson is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties.
Dr. Pearson comes to MUSC with many years of experience in clinical practice and nursing education. Her clinical experience as a nurse practitioner includes practice in a variety of acute and primary care settings. Her research interests focus on women and cardiovascular disease. She has completed several studies aimed at identification and prevention of cardiovascular disease in women in rural areas. She has published articles in peer-review journals on topics related to research, curriculum work and distinct clinical subjects. She has presented both nationally and internationally at nursing conferences. She currently teaches in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program.
