Dr. Janelle Wagner is an Research Associate Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina with appointments in the College of Nursing and Pediatrics. She is also a faculty member of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at MUSC.  Dr. Wagner received her Masters and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Oklahoma State University. She completed an internship and fellowship in Pediatric Psychology at MUSC. She was chosen as an American Epilepsy Society Neurobehavioral Fellow in 2005 and received the William R. Turk Research Award in Pediatric Epilepsy in 2007. Dr. Wagner joined the faculty at MUSC in 2005 with clinical, teaching, and research responsibilities. Dr. Wagner’s areas of clinical expertise within the field of pediatric psychology include behavioral health adjustment to pediatric chronic illness, evidence-based behavioral health intervention in pediatric chronic illness, and pediatric

Since 2009, Dr. Wagner has been engaged in research and mentorship of graduate students, interns, and fellows. Her research interests include behavioral health functioning, coping skills, and cognitive-behavioral self-management intervention in youth with pediatric epilepsy. She has been funded as a Principal Investigator twice by the Epilepsy Foundation and by Parents Against Childhood Epilepsy (PACE) to examine youth perceptions of epilepsy, depression screening, and cognitive-behavioral self-management intervention for youth with epilepsy. She has also contributed as a Co-Investigator on two epidemiological studies funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  Dr. Wagner currently has over 60 peer reviewed publications, collaborates with experts in pediatric epilepsy throughout the US, presents at national conferences, and serves as an Ad Hoc Reviewer for several top epilepsy and pediatric psychology journals.
