MUSC Foundation Scholarships For Nurses

125th Anniversary - At the dean’s discretion annually - incoming or returning student in any College of Nursing degree program, 3.0 GPA, and demonstrated financial need

Annie M.K. Norton Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning student with a 3.0 GPA or better and enrolled in any College of Nursing degree program. The recipient must have financial need and is based on availability of funds.

Barbara Sutton Pace Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning nursing student with a 3.0 GPA or better, financial need and is based on availability of funds.

Betty C. Kelchner Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning student with a 3.0 GPA or better and enrolled in any College of Nursing program of study. The scholarship may be renewed each semester if the recipient maintains a 3.0 GPA, has financial need and is based on availability of funds.

Betty Murray Kinard Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning student with a 3.0 or better GPA and enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program. The recipient must have financial need and is based on availability of funds.

Cecelia Peng Scholarship - Incoming or returning student in MSN or DNP program, 3.0 GPA, demonstrated financial need, and interest in or experience in operating room nursing

College of Nursing Alumni Association Scholarships - At the discretion of the College of Nursing Alumni Board, four-five scholarships may be awarded annually to students enrolled in any degree program based on academic performance, community involvement, leadership, and financial need.

Dorothy Johnson Crews Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning student in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program with a 3.0 GPA or better, has financial need, and is based on availability of funds. Preference is given to Newberry County residents.

Elsie Morgan Scholarship - Incoming or returning student in the ACC BSN College of Nursing degree program, 3.0 GPA, and demonstrated financial need.

Helene Fuld Trust Scholarship - The Helene Fuld Trust Scholarship is all fully matriculated students enrolled in the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program who have a completed FAFSA on file with Office of Financial Aid. Financial need, academic performance, and professional behavior in academic and clinical environments will be evaluated. Students who receive the Helene Fuld Trust Scholarship will not be eligible to receive other College of Nursing scholarships and must be a student in good standing.

Jean P. Wilson Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning student with a 3.0 GPA or better in any College of Nursing degree program. The goal of this award is to recognize academic excellence.

J. W. Thurmond Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning student with a 3.0 GPA or better, financial need and is based on availability of funds.  The student may be enrolled in any academic program, but must be a resident of South Carolina.

Lettie Pate Whitehead Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning female student in any College of Nursing degree program. The student must be a resident of Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, or Florida and a Christian.

Margaret Ann Kerr Scholarship - This award is given to student in the Bachelor of Science of Nursing degree program who has completed at least one semester of course work with a 3.0 GPA or better. The student should have an interest in student activities, such as the Student Nurses Association, and an interest in clinical nursing. The recipient must have financial need and is based on availability of funds.

Marguerite Andell Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning student with a 3.0 GPA or better and enrolled in any College of Nursing program of study. The recipient must have financial need and is based on availability of funds.

Marianna Stuart Mason Scholarship - This award is given to a "truly empathetic, caring, and dedicated nurse." The recipient may be an incoming or returning student with a 3.0 GPA or better and enrolled in Master of Science in Nursing track that is consistent with a commitment to improving maternal-child health. The recipient must have financial need and is based on availability of funds.

Marianne T. Chitty Scholarship - Incoming or returning student in the College of Nursing ACC BSN degree program, 3.0 GPA, and demonstrated financial need

Maude E. Callen Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning student with a 3.0 GPA or better and enrolled in the College of Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Midwifery, or Gerontological Nursing tracks of study. The recipient must have financial need and is based on availability of funds.

Marvin and Cleo McAlhaney Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning student with a 3.0 GPA or better, financial need, and enrolled in any College of Nursing degree program. Preference is given to students that residents of Upper Dorchester County, but the award may be given at the discretion of the College of Nursing.

MUSC Medical Center Scholarship - Incoming ACC BSN degree student with outstanding academic qualifications, financial need, and two year commitment to MUHA following graduation – there is an interview process for this recipient

Nina Smith Scholarship -This award is given to an incoming or returning student with a 3.0 GPA or better and enrolled in any College of Nursing degree program. This award is designated for single parents who have custody of and are supporting a minor child or children. The recipient must have financial need and is based on availability of funds.

Provost and Dean’s Scholarships - Incoming or returning student in any College of Nursing degree program, 3.0 GPA, and demonstrated financial need. Based on funding available annually.

Reba Carter O'Keeffe Scholarship -This award is given to an incoming or returning student with a 3.0 GPA or better and enrolled in any College of Nursing degree program. The recipient must have financial need and is based on availability of funds. Preference is given to a resident of Colleton County, but the award may be given at the discretion of the College of Nursing.

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) New Careers in Nursing (NCIN) - The NCIN program provides scholarships of $10,000 to students from underrepresented groups in nursing or economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The qualified recipient(s) must be enrolled in the MUSC College of Nursing’s accelerated baccalaureate nursing (BSN) program and hold a non-nursing degree from a four-year college or university. Students may use the scholarship funds at their discretion to pay tuition, academic fees and living expenses. Learn More Here.

Roper Patron Scholarship - Incoming ACC BSN degree student with outstanding academic qualifications, financial need, and one year commitment to Roper-St. Francis Healthcare following graduation – there is an interview process for this recipient.

Ruth Chamberlin Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning student in any College of Nursing degree program with a 3.0 GPA and demonstrated financial need.

Ruth Jaqui Skudlarek Scholarship - This scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program who has completed the Population Focused Nursing course. One student will be selected to receive this award based on their academic performance in the Population Focused Nursing course and a written recommendation from a clinical faculty member.

Samuel Steinburg Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning student with a 3.0 GPA or better. The recipient should be a graduate of Trident Technical College located in Charleston, SC. The Steinburg's wish this annual gift will impact a nursing student's life in a positive manner.

Sara Piechnik Scholarship - Incoming or returning DNP or PhD student who has a background in nurse midwifery

Stephen and Ruth P. Stewart Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning student in the PhD degree program based on availability of funds. Preference is given to residents of South Carolina.

Ted and Joan Halkyard Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning student in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program. The recipient must have financial need and is based on availability of funds.  The goal of this scholarship is to recruit and enroll minority students in the MUSC College of Nursing.

Thomas J. Wiscarz Scholarship - This award is given to a returning student in any degree program with a 3.5 GPA with preference given to underrepresented male students.

Virginia Harper Scholarship - This award is given to an incoming or returning student with a 3.0 GPA or better and enrolled in any College of Nursing program of study. The recipient must have financial need and is based on availability of funds.
