Community Based Participatory Research

The University of New Mexico Center for Particpatory Research in partnership with the University of Washington Indigenous Research Wellness Institute launched a CBPR national research project in 2006 to study how CBPR inputs of partnership and participation can improve health status and health equity outcomes. A national advisory committee of CBPR experts and community partners provide monthly oversight to the research efforts and participate in annual research meetings.

Toolkit for Serving Diverse Older Adult Communities

The U.S. Administration on Aging released a toolkit providing the aging network and its partners with a replicable and easy-to-use method for providing respectful, inclusive, and sensitive services for any diverse community. The toolkit consists of a four-step process and a questionnaire that assists professionals, volunteers and grassroots advocates with every stage of program planning, implementation and service delivery for older adults, their families, and caregivers. This toolkit invites the aging network to make a cultural shift in service provision and to appreciate fully the diversity within older adult communities.
