Course Overview
This continuing education course is designed to provide up-to-date information about basic and intermediate foot and nail care for registered nurses.  It will also serve as a review for the foot and nail care certification examination offered by the Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nurses Credentialing Board (WOCNB).  Those viewing the four part DVD series will learn foot care skills that reduce complications associated with arthritis, structural defomitis. diabetes, and vascular disorders.  The materials covered include in depth assessment of lower extremity arterial disease, chronic venous insufficiency, and neuropathy.  A demonstration of an ankle-brachial index as well as how to conduct an assessment and provide foot care is offered.  Information about infection control, patient education, and reducing risk factors is discussed.  Five contact hours are awarded for completion of the course.
