Robin L. Bissinger, PhD, APRN, NNP-BC is the Associate Dean for Academics in the College of Nursing. She also Coordinates the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner team and MUHA. She is Board Certified by the National Certification Corporation as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, a member of Sigma Theta Tau, past president of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses, past president of the Carolina's Association of Neonatal Nurse Practitioners and founder and past-chair of the National Association of Neonatal Nurse Practitioners. She is currently President of the National Certification Corporation, and the Vice-chair of the Congress on Nursing Practice and Economics. She is an active member of the National Alliance and LACE groups who are moving the APRN consensus model forward. Dr. Bissinger serves on numerous academic, corporate and national boards representing neonatal nursing. She is a national speaker and has numerous publications and poster presentations. She has received numerous awards, including the Distinguished Leadership in Neonatal Nursing Award and the South Carolina League of Nursing Excellence Award.
Dr. Bissinger's clinical and research interests involve the study of Secondary Surfactant Dysfunction and Deficiency and Pain in Neonates. She is also very involved in process improvement in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. She is active in the South Carolina Neonatal Medical Consortium and has worked to help the state initiate and publish process improvement efforts on "The Golden Hour: A resuscitation strategy for very low birth weight infants". |
