Description of Services

The OCIO Clinical Systems Division (CSD) is responsible for implementing and supporting all patient care software application for MUSC Health.  In addition, CSD has overall responsibility for Epic Enterprise training.  The patient care areas supported by CSD include:

  • Inpatient
  • Perioperative/ORs
  • Emergency Departments
  • Ambulatory Clinics (physician/outpatient  practices)
  • Ancillaries/specialties (e.g., clinical laboratory, radiology, cardiology, hematology/oncology, radiation/ocology, gastroenterology,  neurosciences, transplant, etc.).

The Clinical Systems Division is lead by a Director who also servers as the Chief Clinical Information Technology Officer and 6 managers, who oversee a staff of over 120 consisting primarily of Clinical Analysts, Systems Analysts and Instructional Designers. CSD supports over 70 software applications with some of the most significant applications consisting of the following:

  • Epic Clinicals
    • Currently in production: Ambulatory EMR, Kaleidoscope, ASAP, MyChart, EpicCare Link, CareEverywhere and MyChart.
    • In-process (go-live July 1 2014): Orders, ClinDoc, Stork, Willow, Radiant, Beacon, Optime and Anesthesia.
  • Cerner Millennium lab
  • GE ImageCast Radiology (to be replaced by Epic Radiant)
  • Picis Perioperative (to be replaced by Epic Optime and Anesthesia)
  • Mediserve Medilinks  Therapies (to be replaced by Epic)
  • Lumedx Apollo and EchoPACS
  • Olympus Endoworks GI
  •  GE MUSE EKG
  • GE EchoPACs
  •  Philips Xcelera Pediatric Cardiology
  • Mosaiq Radiology Oncology
  • Viewpoint OB ultrasound
  • GE Centricity OB

MUSC Health consists of over 60 specialty clinics, 10 primary care practices in the greater Charleston area and a 709 bed academic medical center comprised of four hospitals: Medical University Hospital, Children’s Hospital, Ashley River Tower and Institute of Psychiatry.
