State Authorization

SARA States

MUSC has been approved by South Carolina to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements. NC-SARA is a voluntary, regional approach to state oversight of postsecondary distance education.

In accordance to the laws of each state, MUSC is authorized to offer online distance education programs to students who live in all SARA states.  To find out if the state you live in is a SARA state please see the NC-SARA website here.

 

Non-SARA States

In addition, all distance education programs offered by MUSC (shown below) are approved to accept students who live in the following non-SARA state:  California.

Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Studies

Post-Bacalaureate to Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) 

Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN)

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) 

PhD Nursing Science 

Doctor in Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP)

Master of Science in Health Informatics (MSHI) 

Doctor in Health Administration (DHA) 

Master in Health Administration (MHA)  

Master of Science in Cardiovascular Perfusion (Post Professional)

 

MUSC is unable to accept applications for admission to the programs below from individuals living in this non-SARA state: Massachusetts.

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) 

Post-Bacalaureate to Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) 

Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN)

 

MUSC is unable to accept applicants who live in Puerto Rico into any academic distance education program.
