Interprofessional Student Advisory Board (IPSAB) was formed in 2014. IPSAB is committed to facilitating student involvement in the quality improvement of the interprofessional initiatives at the Medical University of South Carolina. IPSAB advocates for the importance of collaborative healthcare and an interprofessional education.
Alex Novgorodov is a second year pharmacy student who has a passion for interprofessionalism and quality improvement. In addition to being president of the IPSAB, he is the VP of Programming for SIPS and is a QI Project Coordinator for ACMQ. He also volunteers at the VA Outpatient Pharmacy and MUSC Pharmacy Information Systems. In his downtime, Alex enjoys reading, hanging out with friends, and swimming laps at the pool. (pictured above)
Beth Flynn is a third year pharmacy student. In addition to IPSAB, Beth is the Public Relations Chair for SIPS and active in SSHP and PDC. Beth is originally from Darien, CT and completed a BS/BA in Finance from Bryant University. Beth is married to Jason Flynn and they live in Charleston with their son, Noll and black lab, Finnegan.
Secretary Chanel Moses is a rising 3rd year here at James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine. Her hometown is Sumter, SC. She completed her undergraduate education at Francis Marion University in Florence, SC. Some of the student organizations that she is involved in include the Student National Dental Association and Psi Omega dental fraternity. She is also a tutor for the Center of Academic Excellence. In her free time, she spends it outdoors fishing and biking.
PR Chair Grace Elsey is a second year pharmacy student here at MUSC. She completed her undergraduate education at Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC. She is involved in many organizations on campus and has the privilege to serve on several executive boards. She will be the Public Relations representative and is excited to bring the MUSC campus together through interprofessional initiatives!
Ragan LeBlanc is a second year MHA student. She is currently the newly elected IP 710/IP Day Chair and serves as the Vice President for the MHA program. Ragan has had the pleasure of working with the Office of Interprofessional Initiatives during the Spring semester and will also be doing a Summer internship with them. She is actively involved in several interprofessional organizations throughout the university such as the IHI Open School chapter and the ACMQ chapter. She looks forward to representing MUSC's IPSAB throughout the next year and working closely with students from other disciplines across campus.
Maggie Bosley is a 3rd year medical student and is currently the IPE Fellowship Chair for IPSAB and the Vice President of Community Service for the Student Interprofessional Society. She highly values interprofessional initiatives and hopes she can help deepen the collaborative community at MUSC. Maggie also is the Director of Medical Math, a program she developed that incorporates healthcare concepts into math lessons that are taught at local high schools. In her free time, Maggie enjoys playing and coaching soccer. This past year she coached a club team at James Island Youth Soccer Club.
On Wednesday May 17th, the Office of Interprofessional Initiatives and the Interprofessional Student Advisory Board held the Student Interprofessional Education Fellowship Recognition Ceremony. Keynote Speaker, Dr. Ken Catchpole, spoke about the importance for process and outcomes, and the value and challenges of teamwork improvement interventions. Rather than focusing on individual team skills alone, his research seeks to understand the influence of organization, task, technology and environment on team behaviors. Ms. Maggie Bosley, Chair of the Interprofessional Education Fellowship and College of Medicine student served as the emcee for the ceremony....To find out more...
